Julia Gray is the author of three novels for young adults, published by Andersen Press. Her Norse-mythology-influenced novel The Otherlife (2016) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal and longlisted for the Branford Boase Award. Little Liar (2018), a tale of friendship, performance and the dangers of telling lies, was also nominated for the Carnegie Medal and shortlisted for Best YA Novel at Crimefest 2019. I, Ada (2020) explores the tumultuous teenage years of Ada Lovelace, inventor of the machine algorithm. It was shortlisted for the Young Quills Award for Historical Fiction. To accompany the publication of the book, Julia co-produced and presented a podcast series called On the rADAr, in which she interviewed women in the fields of maths and science.<\/p>\n

As a singer-songwriter, Julia has released six albums; her most recent EP, Songs for Nora Tobias, was released as a companion piece to her novel Little Liar.<\/p>\n

Julia lives in south Oxfordshire with her husband, son and dog. She also writes for the publisher Wonderbly.<\/p>\n
